white box appears when flattening

when I go to flatten a 32 bit file or export the file I keep getting this white rectangle appear in the upper right corner.  I've saved the image thinking upon reopening it wouldn't be there. Nope got baked in.  So I've rebooted 2018 MacBook Pro OS 12.6.1 and restarted Affinity Photo v2  open up a previous saved version of the file and again white box upper right corner upon flattening.  I've done this a couple of times trying different procedures including exporting the image file   white box appears.  What always seems to get rid of it temporarily  is to perform a tiny crop to the whole image. Then am able to flatten without the box but after I work on the image for a bit  again I get the white box upon flattening or exporting.

None of my work, any masks or adjustment layers have any shape that might be causing it IOWs I don't believe this is human error (if I'm wrong sure would like to know what I'm doing wrong)

Let me know if you need any other info?

thanks for all your great work.708009266_ScreenShot2022-12-04at7_04_21AM.png.722a336f4085c848cdcb944dde759a7d.png
