On placing images in a picture frame in Publisher. What am I doing wrong?

Placing an image in a frame is not automatic when placed from the Stock studio.

If I have a booklet with picture frames in it. Small images on a page, I select the picture frame, then find an image in Stock studio and drag it to the picture frame, it disappears off the canvas.

To get it in the right place I have to note the size of the frame, and the frames x,y location.

Drag in the image then select the image and change its x,y location to that of the frame. Then in layers panel drag it into the frame so the frame acts like a mask. 
I don’t seem to be able anyway to drag the image into the frame directly. 
 

It’s a 16 page document. Not a single page.

the end result is ok, but I’m sure I should be able to drag it in directly.???

It is a bit quirky on placement, as it drops anywhere on page from Drag/Drop with Stock Images.

First, Select Picture Frame > Tap Edit on Toolbar (3 Dots) > Select Insert Inside > Drag desired image over selected Frame.

Will still have to reposition manually or by Transform Panel, as unfortunately doesn’t place centered…but is at least within the Frame, not sitting on page in unknown location.

Thanks, that’s better. I can handle the resize and reposition. Took me ages to work out where the image was going. 
that’s got it at least useable I hope.

Well, it worked until I tried it in my live document. Where the image places but it can’t be seen.

So yea, it’s ignoring the place inside thing, and again placing it randomly somewhere in the document.

Can again only find it by using transform x,y and setting it to the frame values then dragging it inside.

If this is how it’s supposed to work it’s very clunky. Oh well.

Ok, near as I can see, the problem is with multi page documents.

I created 12 pages, tried it, and the method above does not work. Nothing works only the ethos I originally tried.

Select Frame

Drag image in from Studio.

Note x,y of frame

Adjust x,y of image

drag image into frame (mask)

On a single page, it appears to be working by the method that it’s supposed o work in.

And Placing seems to work fine from Photos and Files.

Oh wow. Yeah. This is definitely a big bug.

Just tried with a 10 page Document…not only didn’t Place inside like the few times before…but was completely what would have been another 8-10 pages down- if they even existed! Which they don’t!

Once finally located…could Select > Edit- Cut > then select Image Frame > Insert Inside > Paste….and still had to reposition BUT was inside the Frame.

Going back to a standard 3-6 Page Document….worked fine.

Definitely in need of a hot fix!

Thanks for your report and our sincerest apologies for the delayed response here. We are exceptionally busy following the release of V2 and we thank you for your continued patience and understanding here.

I can confirm that our team have since identified and resolved a few issues with the Stock Studio and multi-page documents, I have tested your workflow in 2.0.4 (both drag and dropping from the Stock Studio to the Picture Frame directly, and using the 'Insert Inside' method) and both have worked as expected for me, the stock image is added to the Picture Frame, on the correct page and in the correct location within the frame.

Can you please confirm for me, are you seeing the same behaviour in the latest update also?
