siup Posted November 30, 2022 Posted November 30, 2022 Hello, Everything is tell in the tittle: In V2 is it possible to copy slices and also with placement kept? Best regards siup Quote
GarryP Posted November 30, 2022 Posted November 30, 2022 If you could copy a Slice and it was at the same position, how would the exported result differ from the original exported result and what advantage would you get from having the duplicate? Quote
Pšenda Posted November 30, 2022 Posted November 30, 2022 I'll just add that if you need more output files from one slice (different file format, different resolution,...), then you don't have to duplicate the slice, you just add its other output parameters. https://affinity.help/designer/English.lproj/pages/ExportPersona/slicesPanel.html Quote Affinity Store (MSI/EXE): Affinity Suite (ADe, APh, APu) 2.5.7.2948 (Retail) Dell OptiPlex 7060, i5-8500 3.00 GHz, 16 GB, Intel UHD Graphics 630, Dell P2417H 1920 x 1080, Windows 11 Pro, Version 24H2, Build 26100.2605. siup Posted November 30, 2022 Author Posted November 30, 2022 Thanks for your answer...will try to explain a litlle better: I want to make a lot of flashcard with exact same dimension to do some teaching materials for music education and put them in a web page and generate to appear randomly with javascript script. It's for sight reading exercises. The lines of sheet must be at the exact position to not disturb the eyes: do not give a flick effect. I would like to have a little more precision than what I did here ( demo in section 6) https://www.cours-musique-en-ligne.ch/course/cours-de-lecture-a-vue-motif-flashcard/ So for this it could be great to copy or duplicate slice Best regards Quote
GarryP Posted November 30, 2022 Posted November 30, 2022 Are you asking whether it’s possible to copy a Slice from one artboard/document to another artboard/document, or something else? Without knowing where you are starting from it’s difficult to know how to suggest how you can get to where you want to be. Quote
siup Posted November 30, 2022 Author Posted November 30, 2022 @GarryP exact: inside same document and also between several document : both are not possible in V1 ..some improvement in V2? Quote
GarryP Posted November 30, 2022 Posted November 30, 2022 There are some copy/paste ‘export format’ buttons at the top-right of the Slices Panel so you might like to experiment with those. I haven’t tried them so I don’t know if they export the placement & dimensions or just the file type and other stuff. Quote
Old Bruce Posted November 30, 2022 Posted November 30, 2022 if the flash cards in the Designer file are pixel aligned and all the same size then use the Layers panel to make slices from the flashcards. This may necessitate grouping the cards and their text and graphic elements and naming the groups Flash card 001, Flash card 002, Flash card 003, etc. Then you would select the groups and make them slices and export those slices. Pixel aligned work in Designer means having the artboards in Pixel dimension and aligning things to the pixel grid. No fractional pixel sizes or x, y locations. I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.
