Hello, after selecting an object i was in V1 able to cut or copy it and paste it in another photo. V2 seems to have problems with is and instead of copying the selected object it pastes the entire document.

Did you rasterise the placed image layer first before doing the copy operation ?

Thank you Paul, rasterizing works but now  I wonder why I never had to do that with the previous versions of AP.

It's the same in v1: You can't copy a selection from an Image type of layer. Reason being because an image layer is a "non-destructible" embedded object that you can freely resize without losing any of its attributes. (That's a Good Thing™!) So to copy a pixel selection, you need to rasterize it first so that it matches the document resolution. Pixel selection works on pixel (and pixel mask) layers. Much like you cannot do much with it on vector or text layers.

MacBookAir 15": MacOS Ventura > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // MacBookPro 15" mid-2012: MacOS El Capitan > Affinity v1 / MacOS Catalina > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // iPad 8th: iPadOS 16 > Affinity v2

I guess because previously you opened the images directly, but this time you used place to get your image into you open document.

When you open an image direct from Apple Photos or iCloud the image is rasterised automatically to create a new document the same pixel dimensions as your image.

However, when you simply create a new document then place the image you can scale it small or as large as you want as it acts like a fully scaleable vector.

You can do simple adjustments like brightness and contrast etc on this image. However if you need to do pixel level changes then you have to scale the image as you like then rasterise it which makes it line up with your documents underlying pixel dimensions other wise it would be unable to blend with the any other images within the document.

Thank you. I just reoeated the exact same thing in V1 with exact the same files/photos and it copied without the need to rasterize.

Then check your ASSISTANT settings in V1 and compare to V2, you possibly have automatic rasterisation set in V1 but not in V2
