We've just released the 2.2 update for V2. It has some improvements for File Saving, so hopefully it will improve your situation. Interested to know if your documents open in 2.

Others don't hesitate. I would suspect it was placed art couldn't be found, but because users on this forum can open mine without the associated assets, that doesn't seem to explain it. xnjxn
fwiw, I get this on Quit.
xnjxn
While I rather suspect this is unrelated to the unopening document, v2.2 has this odd thing going on in the tool bar: Two sets of three buttons are transparent, and clicking on them brings the window behind them to the front. (Firefox shown in screenshot.)
xnjxn
I noticed there are other threads on the forum addressing this same issue. Mine isn't an isolated case.
Staff Leigh Posted October 5, 2023 Staff Share Posted October 5, 2023 I've not forgotten about your issue @xnjxn - Are the documents that you're trying to open stored or backed up to iCloud at all?
xnjxn
Normally they are on iCloud, but as a test (noted earlier) I moved a file from there onto my hard drive, with the same result. Could it be that files created there are specially tagged in some way?
Staff Leigh Posted October 11, 2023 Staff Share Posted October 11, 2023 The file from your previous post seems fine. The Loading Document message has been reported a few times on the forum but it normally rectifies itself after the initial loading of the document but that doesn't seem to be the case for you. Do you happen to know if you're using the Mac App Store or Affinity Store version?
Tart
Hello, I am joining with a similar topic: The file won´t load, not from the server, not copied on a local disk. We use the latest update: 2.2.1. Has anyone had a similar issue and has any advice? We use volume licenses, some have Affinity 2.1 some 2.2.1 versions, maybe be related. mangoes
I'm having the same issue. I created a number of files within the past two weeks and now half won't open. I'm on a Mac and I recently (in the last 4 days) upgraded to the latest OS. But it doesn't explain why half the files do open even if they were created prior to my OS update. It does seem random. Some of the larger files open, no problem. The ones I tried but can't seem to open are about 10MB. Help?? Update: Holy cow. I just left it running and it finally opened after 30 min. WTH?? Is this normal? I'm new to Affinity and this is making me regret the decision to jump to Affinity from Adobe.

It is an issue with macOS Sonoma and iCloud and file synchronization, I think.
