Guenter Diel
Inserting/deleting pages takes much longer in Publisher v2. Especially, the redisplay of pages in the pages tab takes very long. Overall, Publisher v2 is noticeably slower than V1. GrayFH
GrayFH
Agree. Now on v 2.03. A noticeable delay when a page is deleted from the pages thumbnail panel, then another delay as all of the page thumbnails are refreshed. Makes re-organising a document very tedious. MikeTO
Hi @Guenter Diel and @GrayFH, I can't duplicate this issue with v2.03 on macOS Ventura. I messed around with my long complex book and the best I could manage was a one-second delay when inserting a spread into the middle of a long story. If you start Publisher fresh, open a complex file, and use the Pages panel insert a page or spread in the middle of the document, is it slow then? Or is it slow only after working in the app for a while? I ask this because there's another bug with the Text Styles panel where it slows down after using the app for a while and the only workaround is to restart Publisher. I wonder if your Pages panel issue is similar. Based on your previous posts, I think Guenter you're using Windows and Gray you're on macOS. Could you please confirm that and share which operating system versions you're using? GrayFH
HI MikeTo thanks for responding. Yes, it appears to be slowing down over time. When I restart Publisher it improves. After restarting Windows it improves even more, and is almost immediate. After some time (do not know how long at this point) this operation slows down to around 1.5 to 2 seconds, which is a long time in terms of interface feedback. I'm used to snappy page rearrangement as in the previous version, and in other brands like InDesign, Pagemaker, Quark etc. My document has many images, although all at low res, screen resolution. I'm working on a Razer laptop, 6 cores, 16Gb ram, Windows 11. Thanks

Staff Dan C Posted February 10, 2023 Staff Share Posted February 10, 2023 Hi all, Thanks for your report and our sincerest apologies for the delayed response here. We are exceptionally busy following the release of V2 and we thank you for your continued patience and understanding here. I have been testing this further in 2.0.4 and I have yet been unable to replicate this issue - even in a file with over 200 pages and a large resolution image on each page. Depending on your system, you may find better performance over time with Hardware Acceleration disabled under Edit > Preferences > Performance. I hope this helps!
