HI MikeTo thanks for responding. Yes, it appears to be slowing down over time. When I restart Publisher it improves. After restarting Windows it improves even more, and is almost immediate. After some time (do not know how long at this point) this operation slows down to around 1.5 to 2 seconds, which is a long time in terms of interface feedback. I'm used to snappy page rearrangement as in the previous version, and in other brands like InDesign, Pagemaker, Quark etc. My document has many images, although all at low res, screen resolution. I'm working on a Razer laptop, 6 cores, 16Gb ram, Windows 11. Thanks

Degraded image after resizing document

Oh, Afinity devs, can I suggest that the Resize function applys a Rasterise function before the resize? Based on my solution above. Cheers. -
Degraded image after resizing document

I have figured out the resizing problem! Before resizing, it is VERY important to Rasterise your image (Right-click, Rasterise). And then once resized, I recommend raterising once more. This completely fixes this resizing problem. Using the various options makes fine improvements, but even with the default, this rasterising approach works. I'm no programmer, but it seems that Afinity "holds" the image in memory, until such time that you "lock it in", using rasterise, or exporting to a final file. By adding a resize in there clearly seems to confuse Afinity, as it seems to resize using some sort of proxy screen image, that is not actually the actual hi-res image. Anyway, that is how I rationalise it to myself. Happy once more :-) -
Degraded image after resizing document

I have tried all of the resizing re-interpolation algorithms, including both Lanczos ones, and the resizing is still not good. And the bigger the step down, the worse it is. Especially when using type. I have also tried resizing in smaller steps – e.g from 100%, to 70% to 50% – this is better, but, I am afraid to say not anywhere as good as other mainstream programs. I resize a lot – if this could be improved this would be fantastic. In the meantime, I jump in to PS for this particular function. (sorry) -

Arrrggghh ... I had to go back and use P'shop today because I needed the dust and scratches filter. I feel tainted! Any news on this Serif? Cheers

Yes please – I need a Flatten all. Wihtout a simple Flatten, some tasks are unecessarily complex. E.g., open an image of a diagram, erase some detail, and then flatten, so you can add to some other image. I do not want my erased holes anymore, I need that image to be flattend, so I can use it as one layer in another composition. My vote for Flatten.

Affinity Photo Auto Document Size

Agree agree agree. Paste & create image into New Doc using image dimensions is what we need. I create training material using screen captures and this feature would save me a lot of time. -
It would help me a lot if the filter settings used in one image reappeared the next time I used that filter, or could be saved as a preset. Take Unsharp mask as an example – I would set up the ideal unsharpening that would suit a range of images, based usually on their shared resolution and contrast range. But currently, I have to adjust these 3 sliders every time on every image, just to get the same setting. When editing 100 images, this is just too time wasteful. Thanks.

I support a dust and scratches tool. I touch up old photographs, and it is far too time wasteful to remove each speck of dust one at a time. Thanks Serif – enjoying AP a lot. Love the Clarity filter.

Select an object by partial marquee drag
GrayFH replied to GrayFH's topic in Older Feedback & Suggestion Posts
ahhh .. absolutely awesome. Thanks. -
Would it be possible to select an object by dragging over any PART of that object? At present, the entire object must be completely marquee selected. This gets frustrating when the invisible bounding box is actually bigger than the objec, which is often the case with type. I've got used to partial selction in other prgoams, and it makes for more fluid working. Thanks for a great app.
