Affinity Suite 2 : Just bought on Mac App Store, can't restore my purchase

Recommended Posts

Hello there,

I just bought the entire suite for 119,99€ on the Mac App Store on trust. My purchase has been confirmed by Apple.

When I try to click "restore my purchase" on the trial window on Affinity Designer 2, it does nothing. Same situation with Affinity Publisher 2.

Obviously, if I try to click on "Already purchased" button, it asks me for a Serif ID and for a password, but it won't recognize my Apple ID.

I have a MacBook Air with Monterey OS 12.6.1

Could you help me please

Hi @Cesco,

Please open the V2 Affinity app where the Universal License purchase was made, then navigate to the 'My Account' section.
Here you will see an option to 'Register' the purchase to an Affinity ID - where you can use an existing Affinity account if you already have one, or create a new ID.

Once you've registered the purchase with your Affinity ID, simply sign into the other Affinity apps using this ID and the license will be activated.

I hope this helps!

Doesn't work for me either. Have requested a refund from Apple but they are refusing to do so

Could you provide any screenshots of the problems so we can help out? Are you getting error messages? Were you prompted to register your licence with your Affinity ID after purchasing your licence?

I just did but they seem to have disappeared from this forum. Another try:

Thanks @Truth42. Which app did you buy the Universal Licence in? If you bought the Universal Licence in Affinity Photo for example, you need to register that licence against an Affinity ID in that app. That will allow you to then run the other apps.

I agree to be honest, that the whole registration thing is not user-friendly at all.  It got me frustrated at some point and made me doubt my action to buy the software. I am a hardcore Adobe Indesign user, and I bought Affinity Publisher 2, to explore the software I have been reading about and expand my knowledge. (Or to train myself when you guys defeat Adobe Indesign, *wink*)

This is where I, and perhaps other users, will get stuck. Hopefully my response on this forum will help other users.

After the purchase from the macOS App Store, it still showed the "buy-warning" after launching the software. I discovered I had to login to a user account. One problem however, I didn't have one, … yet. I searched on your website and it told me I could create an account from the software itself.

OK, fair enough, I found that button in the software, but the actual "register-option" is NOT seen. Which is very confusing in all honesty, or perhaps it's just me. I then relaunched the software, got that "buy-warning-popup" again and in my frustration I clicked the "buy-button" again, (hoping I would not buy the software 2 times) and THEN i could register an account and add the purchase to my freshly created account … and it worked!

I am glad I (accidently) found how to do it, but again, it is a bit confusing. Perhaps it's just me, and perhaps there is some very logical explanation from your company's side why it goes like this.

Like I said, maybe my response will help someone who reads this. ;)

I'm having the same issues. I bought a Universal Licence through Designer V2 for Mac, but can't register it there. I wasn't prompted to register my licence with my Affinity ID after purchasing.

When you purchased the Universal Licence you should have been immediately prompted to register the licence against an Affinity ID. If you press “Not Now” you’ll get a further prompt advising you to register the Universal Licence.
Did you get any new screens or prompts after your purchase?

I don't recall getting any further prompts. But I just went back into Affinity Designer and clicked 'purchase' again (I think?) and then I received a prompt saying that I'd already bought it and could link to my existing account – which worked!

It's a bit clunky and has been a bit unintuitive but glad I've got it linked up now.

Sorry to hear this - can you please provide a screenshot of the options are you are seeing, in the application where you purchased the Universal License?

This is it. It is written in Italian. It's not exactly 100% the same pop-up window, because I feel I didn't even need to do a trial (I just wanted to buy a license because your software have saved my arse so many times I could trust blindly your work) so I just bought a license.

I bough my universal license from the second big tab by clicking on the button, and then the Apple App Store asked me if I was sure to spend 119,99€ on the suite. I clicked "Okay"  and Apple confirmed my purchase.

I then expected Affinity Designer 2 to unlock automatically but it did not happen. I got back on this very same popup that was asking me to purchase a license or to restore it.

The last option on the bottom of the window is "Ripristina Acquisti" (Restore purchase) but it does nothing when I click it. It's not even giving me an error saying that there is no existing license to restore..

I managed to register my license from Mac App Store.

Here's a funny thing: Affinity Designer 2 is both telling me that if I want I can deactivate my license AND inviting me to press the "BUY NOW" button to purchase a license (again?)

I'm sorry Serif Affinity Team: you have developed a great suite of applications, but IMHO the license registration process is not yet refined as the rest of your software.

Thanks for the screen shot provided @Cesco, our team have been able to replicate the workflow that can cause this and have informed our devs.

They have also found that following a restart of the app, this correctly shows the 'Deactivate' option only - are you seeing the same please? :)
