  1. Are you using the latest release version? Yes
  2. Can you reproduce it? 100% reproducible
  3. Does it happen for a new document? If not can you upload a document that shows the problem? This is not a document specific problem.
  4. If you cannot provide a sample document then please give an accurate description of the problem for example it should include most of the following:
  •    What is your operating system and version (Windows 11, OSX Ventura, iOS 16 etc)?

iPadOS 16.1

  •    Is hardware acceleration (in Preferences > Performance) ON or OFF ? (and have you tried the other setting?)

this is an iPad

  •    What happened for you (and what you expected to happen)

When adding a new swatch to a palette things go haywire and the palette viewer switches to some random display of swatches that seems like its added every color in the document.

The palette I have selected should be updated to include just the one color I’m adding.

  •    Provide a recipe for creating the problem (step-by-step what you did).

Create a new palette, add current background color; bug exhibits.

  •    Screenshots (very handy) or a screen capture/video.
  •    Any unusual hardware (like tablets or external monitors or drives that may affect things) or relevant other applications like font managers or display managers.
  •    Did this same thing used to work and if so have you changed anything recently? (software or hardware)

This is a brand new version of the app afaik.

Additionally, swatches are really only useful if the following things are also possible:

1. Being able to anchor the palette to the viewport so it’s always available for changing colors.

2. I need to be able to reorder the swatches in an existing palette; this is either not working or is not possible and it stinks.

I am not seeing that problem on my iPad. It would be helpful if you would make a screen recording of it happening. Ideally from the creation of a new palette.

I did see something, once, that might be what you're referring to. After I switched away from the Swatches studio, and came back, the Swatches display had switched to the Colors palette. But my palette was still there in the list, and was properly updated. Perhaps that's what you saw?

Please make requests for new or changed functions in Feedback for the Affinity V2 Suite of Products, which is where the Developers and Planners will expect to find them. They will probably be lost here.

Thanks. I'm not sure what's going on there.

Having to move the color from the sampler into the current color selection wasn’t obvious either.

That's the way that sampler works in both iPad and desktip, and in both V1 and V2. When you drag it it fills its color well. To actually use the color you have to tap it to move the color to the other wells where it can be applied. The Color Picker Tool in the Tools is an instant sample/apply, but the Color Sampler works differently and only samples.................
