MrBen Posted August 8, 2022 Posted August 8, 2022 Hi everyone I was wondering if there is a way to change the brush cursor shape to a simple crosshair or simple round. Custom brush shapes can obstruct the view when painting at large sizes - I found the prefs crosshair setting which simply adds a crosshair, but it would be great to have another option where the crosshair replaces the brush shape. Any help much appreciated. hFA 1 Quote
Dan C Posted August 8, 2022 Posted August 8, 2022 Hi @MrBen, Welcome to the Affinity Forums Unfortunately the brush cursor will always show the 'shape' of the brush nozzle, as shown in your screenshot. There is currently an 'improvement request' logged with our developers to force a basic (or none, as user choice) brush cursor, regardless of brush selected - so I will be sure to add a 'vote' to this request for you now. I hope this helps! hFA 1 Quote
MrBen Posted August 8, 2022 Author Posted August 8, 2022 Hi Dan, thank you. That would be perfect, much appreciated! Since transitioning to an M1 I'm increasingly using Photo to paint with for its solid performance with the Paint Mixer Brush, so spending more time with it also highlights little niggles. While you cannot turn off the outline of the shape (which shows the size and orientation) you can turn off the "preview" which shows the colour. It is in the Preferences under User Interface. I would have thought it would be under Tools but there you go. Quote Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6 Affinity Designer 2.6.0 | Affinity Photo 2.6.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.6.0 | Beta versions as they appear. I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

(Couldn't find where to vote😅) Really love the way it works on the iPad no cursor at all, just a show of size when you alter it. ☺️ Best and thanks for your time! Frederiek Dan C 1 Quote

Thanks Bruce - I tried it which helps but in this case it's as much the complexity of the outline which obscures while painting. Quote
