KimBooYork Posted July 14, 2022 Posted July 14, 2022 To be clear, I'm not talking about the "stroke order" buttons which adjust whether a stroke in a table is above or below the cell's fill color! Clicking those buttons do nothing for the issue I am having. My problem is that I added a row to a table and changed the upper cell border to light gray. It now rests on top of the other cell borders, which are all black. I assume because I added the row later, so it is newer, thus "on top", but I cannot see any way to adjust this??? What am I missing? This screen snippet shows the problem, where the gray line is bisecting the black, when I want it "behind" the black: Quote
GarryP Posted July 15, 2022 Posted July 15, 2022 Welcome to the forums @KimBooYork I don’t think you are missing anything. As far as I know the software simply draws the different parts of the table in a certain order and that order can’t be changed by the user. One ‘workaround’ would be to duplicate the table and use different grid layout/colours on each ‘version’ of the table, layering the grids in the way you need, but that’s a sub-optimal way of doing things. You could create a change request for this but I can’t – off the top of my head – think of a way that the user could control this ‘border ordering’ without it getting overly-complicated in the UI. (But someone else might.) KimBooYork 1 Quote

It's def. something that I'll put a change request in for, but in the meantime, thanks for the work-around suggestion. Better than nothing! Quote
GarryP Posted July 15, 2022 Posted July 15, 2022 You're welcome. If you do create a change request, please first try thinking about how you would specify the ordering in the UI and then adding that information to the request. So many people make a request for something without thinking about how it could be implemented (or even if it's possible). (If you don't tell the developers how you want it to work then you can't expect them to implement it the way you want it to work.) KimBooYork 1 Quote

Select Row 1 add [Bottom] border 3.00mm, colour it red Select Column B add [ALL] border 3.0005mm, colour it black (see Note:1 below) With Column B still selected remove [Left], [Top], [Bottom], borders Select cells B2 and B3, remove [Inside Horizontal] border Note1: This value must be larger than the red border value, even if just by a tiny bit A bit of a kerfuffle but doable if you need to get paid afpub document is attached tableborders.afpub KimBooYork 1 Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. Old Bruce Posted July 15, 2022 Posted July 15, 2022 Not one hundred percent sure about this but I think it is the difference between Cells and a Row being selected. I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.
aMED Posted June 2, 2024 Posted June 2, 2024 I spent hours looking for a solution for this. I know it's been a while since you asked but the workaround I came up with was to turn the table into curves. Once it's a curve I selected the vertical line and brought it to front. It worked great. The only problem is that now you cant add cells or rows cause it is not a table anymore. The other workaround is that I put a vertical line with the pen tool and then grouped the table and line. on the table's format there is an option to order the stroke but it was always grayed out.
