Affinity Store Purchases Require Downloads Between All Products

Recommended Posts

I am curious why the Affinity Store assets I have purchased have to be downloaded for each product, despite being the same asset.  This can run up to be MANY gigabytes of download for the same assets.  Maybe I am unaware as to a workaround for this?

No, that's the way it works.

Possibly it will be improved in the future, as Serif knows that we view this as a problem, and Feature Requests have been posted already for it to be improved.

Instead of downloading the assets via the app, use a web browser to log in to your Affinity Store account, go to the ‘Downloads & Product Keys’ section and download the assets to a location of your choice. You can then import the assets from there into each of the apps where you want to use them.

  • 2 weeks later...

@AlfredYou may have answered this question already regarding asset downloads, so apologies... When I clicked on the download button for a purchased asset a popup indicates all purchased assets can be downloaded at once and synced via one's account... I logged into my account and one of the instructions is: "Select Go to My account and then Download all from the ‘My purchases’ menu on the right-hand side (you can also select theAlways install available content’ box at the bottom of this menu to automatically download and sync new purchases in the future)"

There is no 'My purchases' menu selection, only 'Order History' and I don't see a 'Always install available content' box to 'automatically download and sync new purchases'...

My device (PC desktop) was registered a long time ago...  Am I missing something...?  I usually manually download and install purchases so I'm a bit puzzled by this...

I thank you in advance for your response...

That's part of My Account in the application itself; not part of your Account at the Affinity Store.

Thanks, @IdahoSAM, appreciate the response... Yes, that's the menu I see and when I go to 'Downloads & product keys', only the items I have purchased are there, so clicking on the big download button opens the popup with instructions as I noted... If the website hasn't been updated to reflect something different, I still don't see what is referenced in the text of the popup when I am in my account (order history or downloads & product keys)...

And now, since I clicked on the 'download manually' link in those popup instructions, I can't reproduce what I was seeing... I will logout and try it again to see if it pops up again so I can get a screenshot of it...

@ScootCoot My account and the store account are one and the same, so when I logged into Photo, or Publisher, etc with my account, I can see all of my "Add-Ons".  Most have a download arrow, but others have the affinity logo inside.a circle.  When that is clicked, I am taken to the Serif site, where I log in, and it takes me to that purchased asset to download.  I do not know why these purchased assets are not directly downloadable but wish they were.  I also wish that those assets were available across ALL 3 apps in a common folder so they were available to each application.  Maybe one day.

Here's the text of the popup I am seeing:

Sync your content directly to your apps

Did you know you can now sync your content directly to your apps rather than having to download and individually install from the website? It’s really easy to do and will make your content available across all apps and operating systems it’s compatible with.

Just follow these steps:

1. Make sure you’ve updated to the latest 1.9 version of your Affinity app(s)

2. Open the app and go to My Account  (the person icon in the top right of the app)

3. Follow the instructions to register your app and sign in to your Affinity account if you haven’t already

4. Select Go to My account and then Download all from the ‘My purchases’ menu on the right-hand side (you can also select the ‘Always install available content’ box at the bottom of this menu to automatically download and sync new purchases in the future)

5. Follow these steps for each app you own

Once you’ve completed this process, you’ll be able to view all your store content in the My Account section of your Affinity app and use any content both online and offline. Any new content you purchase from the store will be synced automatically (if you chose this option), so you’ll never need to download and manually install any content packs again.

If you would prefer to manually install your content, you’ll need to use this download file.

@ScootCoot I have mine set that same way, but it's just odd that each app has to download the purchases, instead of accessing a common folder.

I notice that you are in Edmonds, WA.  I used to live in Whidbey Island while in the Navy.  1985 - 1989.  Should have kept our house there and sold it even 5-10 years later.  Would have made a lot more money. haha.

@IdahoSAMThanks... I have a login for my account and one for this community... When I log into my Affinity account there is no 'My Account' in the drop down from the icon, only a menu selection: "Account Details" along with all the other choices including: "Order History" and "Downloads & product keys"...  On the page for the "Downloads & product keys" are big blue 'download' buttons... Clicking on the button opens the popup with the text I posted in my last reply...  At the bottom of the webpage when logged in is a link titled "My Account"; clicking on it opens the same menu as the icon dropdown menu when I am logged into my account...

@IdahoSAM...Indeed... my house is worth a butt load of money now; been here 10 years and owe around $168k... a neighbor just moved and sold their house for $710k--it was listed at $650k... Currently, Redfin has my house valued at $650k... 🤪

Those instructions are suggesting that you install via the My Account dialog on the application, rather than the website.

There's also a link near the end of them to download from the website if you really want to.
