  1. R-C-R, what RNKLN said... "unloads"... Or said another way, "crashes", "removes itself from the desktop", "disappears", etc... I tried downloading an image from my iCloud account to another graphics program I use and it did the same thing as it did when I attempted to download an image from my iCloud account to Affinity Designer: it "unloaded" itself from the desktop... So... that leads me to think it is some sort of an issue with iCloud or some weird Microsoft setting on my computer that doesn't like iCloud... Who knows; I sure don't... Anyway,, R-C-R, thanks for your feedback... If I do figure out what's going on with this issue I will post it here...
  2. I am using the latest AD version (1.7.3.481) on a Windows desktop PC and have run into an issue, which may or may not have been answered somewhere here in the land of the Affinity Designer forum, so I apologies in advance... The program works fine, but today when I attempted (3 times) to retrieve an image file from my iCloud account, the program instantly unloads so I have to restart the program... If anyone else has experienced this and have found a solution, directing me to the thread or links would be appreciated... Thank you...!
  3. If it's what I think it is, it's a pop-up that has you send a crash report to Serif to explain what happened when the program crashed while using the program...
  4. Thanks, Patrick and the AD team, for the latest update on the beta version of Affinity Designer - it is appreciated...! Personally, I think I will wait until the latest version goes from "beta" to "final" non-beta... Carl Edmonds, WA U.S.A.
  5. Thanks, Mithferion - appreciate your input... Yes, I know that's how it works and, no, I don't use beta versions for production work... My current [stable] version seems to be working well now... I'm thinking the day the program locked up on me, another program may have been running in the background - a program using a lot of memory... And, just as an observance, every once in a while, when online, the Google Chrome browser stops responding - everything stops and the HDD light glows steadily; no mouse pointer, nothing works... Once the HDD light starts blinking and staying off for longer periods, that's when Chrome starts working again and the mouse pointer returns... Now, whether that has anything to do with why my AD program kept locking up and not responding, I haven't a clue...
  6. Thanks... Appreciate the notification... As per installation of the beta version - I may have installed it in the same directory, but can't be sure... I have uninstalled the beta version so would have to go through history files to check whether it was indeed installed in the same directory of the original AD install... Anyway, AD seems to be working without freezing or locking up... One other problem that could cause AD to lock up / freeze would be a memory hog program running in the background or even an antivirus program running its scan in the background... It's at times like this that I think I should just have one computer strictly dedicated to just Affinity Designer with no other bloatware installed in said computer...!
  7. Thanks, Mark... I responded to your other reply in: Go to this post
  8. Thanks for the reply, Mark... I will send the file... Please be so kind as to let me know you receive it...
  9. Thanks, Chris B... Yes, I have downloaded the beta version 1.6.x.xx, installed it, opened it only to be greeted with "invalid product key", then clicking OK the program closes... You can see my other comments regarding the beta version here in the forum... I ended up uninstalling the beta version and am back to using my current version of 1.5.3.69 which seems to now be working okay... I will just wait until the new stable version is released to update then...
  10. Uninstalled the beta 1.6.x.xx - just could not get it to work... Cleaned the registry, rebooted the computer... AD, and I'm not sure why, is now working without locking up [he says knocking on wood] so far... Also, when my version - 1.5.3.69 - starts it does not indicate that there is a new version... Hopefully, when all the dust settles regarding the non-functioning beta 1.6.x.xx, Serif will be sending out notices that the new version non-beta of version 1.6.x.xx is stable and now available for download and, yes, it will read the product key from the installed version 1.5.3.69 without any glitches...
  11. Thanks for the response, Mark... Yes, I do know that... It just seems there was no "heads up" about AD 1.5.3.69 being relegated to the trash bin and a new beta was available in the meantime until a new version of AD is sent out to paying customers... Evidently the coding of the newest beta version lacks any way of inserting the product key so I am stuck until I can either get the beta version to work or just waiting until the new version is available... I probably won't know it is available until I open the program and a pop-up indicates there is a newer version available to replace my purchased installed one... I don't have the time to hunt through the installed files of the program I purchased to find the file that the beta version is looking for so I don't get the "invalid product key" popup that closes the program once click the OK button... In the meantime I will just use my Paint.Net program... It's not as well endowed like AD is but it will do in a pinch...
  12. Sorry to impose upon you all but reading through the forum trying to make sense of what I'm running into is making my eyes glaze over... I purchased Affinity Designer (AD) back when it went from its "beta" version to the "non-beta" version. I opened the program yesterday and it kept crashing - I sent two crash reports - and when it didn't crash the program just locked up and I had to use the task manager to end the program... As recommended via the forum I downloaded and installed the latest "beta" version of AD - 1.6.x.xx - but that program won't run because it is telling me "Invalid Product Key"...! I'm no computer whiz but shouldn't there be some line of code in the "beta" version to read the product key from my existing old "non-beta" version...? Or at least, shouldn't there be some sort of dialog box during the install of the "beta" version asking me for the product key...? If all the above is listed somewhere in the forum, feel free to send me the link to it so I can see how to fix this problem to get this "beta" version working so I can get back to the business of creating instead of wrenching on a "beta" program to get it to work... Thank you for your time...
  13. Thanks for the response, grapher - appreciate it... I'm curious about this "beta" thing - I don't recall seeing an email in my inbox as to a "beta" version replacing the one I purchased, nor was there the usually "new update available" when I opened the program... Am I correct in understanding that the version I purchased, installed and kept updated is now in the trash bin...? I downloaded and installed the "beta" version today... I hope there will be email notices in the future for new versions and/or at least a notice when I open the program that there is a "new" or "beta" version available to replace what I have installed on my machine...
  14. I see a lot of postings here from January about AD freezing and not responding - yep, that's exactly what my version [1.5.3.69] is doing today, 06 Sept 2017... I realize everyone has a different computer and programs will crash, not respond, freeze-up, etc., etc. but it seems, in just perusing this forum, there seems to be a lot of issues with the program freezing-up and not responding... My AD just now stopped responding and after about 5 minutes - looking in this forum and typing this out - an "Unhandled Exception" message just now popped up on the screen... "An Unhandled Exception has occurred and the application cannot continue. The Crash Reporter will be displayed after the application exits. Code: 0x80004003" I filled out the crash report so hopefully someone in the Serif tech department will read it... I'm late to the game here, so hopefully there is some sort of fix or work-around for this program stopping issue I am currently experiencing... I need the program now and cannot rely on it if it keeps locking up on me...
