I have a book layout being done in Publisher. I have updated my operating system and Affinity Publisher. I am using Mac OS Big Sur on a 4 ghz Quad Core Intel i7 processor with 16 GB of memory using a AMD Radeon R9 M295X 4 GB graphics cards. The publisher file shows it is 1.98 GB in size. It takes a long time to load and to respond to text or image editing. Am I doing something wrong here? I am worried that it will lose the layout or content if I continue.

Hi Drmyy,

Welcome to the forums :)

This file is very large to the point where I have left it for a few hours here on my machine and Publisher still hasn't opened it. How many pages and embedded images do you have in this document? If you have a high volume of embedded images you may be better off having them linked to save file size.

Thanks
C

This document does have images and will have many more. Is there a reference guide or article on book layout with images somewhere? How do you link the image rather than place it in the document?

We don't.

You go to File > Place... after you have chosen whether or not to have Embedded (placed) or Linked (placed) images. Use the File > Document Setup... and select the policy on the panel's top half. Or decide when you make a new document.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6
Affinity Designer 2.6.0 | Affinity Photo 2.6.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.6.0 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.
