I am new to affinity designer. I know how to repeat a shape around a circle, but am unfamiliar with how to repeat an image or shape around a non symmetrical shape such as a rounded square.  I tried making the image a brush and have it repeat the image around the shape I need but the image doesn't look right when I do it that way. Is there another way to repeat a shape or image around a rounded square. Trying to do it by hand and have all the images be equal distance apart and uniform is not working. So just wondering if there was a way to repeat the image I am using around the rounded rectangle?  Thanks so much!

Hi MizMelzy,
Welcome to the Affinity Forums!

Your "repeat" sounds unclear, ambiguos. What exactly should repeat?
Depending on your goal there will be various ways to achieve it. Can you upload a sample image, or your not-working brush painting to see what you not want?

Here two examples using a Bitmap Fill, applied with the Gradient Tool.

The first file is what I did with the brush and the gems that I want around half of the rounded square.  I don't want them so close together and more spaced out. But not sure if I can space them out. Also they look a little on the grey side compared to the original image. The first image is the gem that I created, and I want it to repeat around half of the rounded square. What I did is the second image. And it just looks not as colorful. Not sure if it's because they are so small. Not sure if there is a way to make them a little more spaced out.  I ideally want to use the original image to make the effect as I think it would look better.

I assume you have created the brush under Affinity Designers draw persona in which case you need to have some space left and right of the diamond in the diamond image like so...

So with that buffer space you can adjust the spacing of the gems using the red bars in the brush settings...

...and the colouration, just set both colour wells to none.

Thanks so much for the help.  I knew there was a way to do it, but wasn't sure as I am still learning this software. :) Much appreciated!
