  1. Thank you! I knew there was a way to do it, but wasn't sure how. Thanks! Melissa
  2. I am using affinity designer 2 for Windows. I am trying to create a chiseled effect on an object with the Quick FX. The Quick FX does make it look 3D however I want the edges not so round but more sharp. I went into settings but the soften option is all the way down already. Is there a way to do this? Thanks! Melissa
  3. I downloaded and purchased Affinity Designer v2. I have Windows 11 Home 64bit 16gb of ram 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-1195G7 @ 2.90GHz 1.80 GHz. While I am working on a design. Usually when I am trying to fill my design with an image by going into the gradient tool and selecting a jpg or png image. Some times it will be fine but randomly Affinity Designer will just shut down. It happens at least 5 or more times while using it. Thank goodness it has a partial save from when it shut down otherwise I loose my work which is frustrating to say the least. I get no error whatsoever letting me know why it shut down or anything. Just the app closes and I have to restart it. I should not have to save every single time I change the design even a hair so I don't loose what I'm working on. Makes the process even longer if I am saving my design every minute. Is this a bug of some kind with v2 or is there a reason this is happening? It's very annoying and I want to fix the issue. V1 did not do this at all. Melissa
  4. It's the same issue just a different question. So no they are not exactly the same. One was about restoring my files and this one is about why they are just disappearing. Melissa
  5. So I re-did all my gradients again, and saved them. This time it shows 166kb and again getting the same message. Not sure why it's doing this. It shouldn't be doing that.
  6. Affinity Designer all of a sudden is losing all my styles. It's happened again. It happened a week or so ago. I re-added them again and today went to use Affinity Designer, and again they are all gone. I have no idea why this is happening. I am getting no error messages. Affinity Designer is not hanging or been force closed. Nothing. It just loses all my styles. Has anyone else had this problem? This is very frustrating. Thank you! Melissa
  7. Here is the file that says it's not compatible. I'm just hoping that its an easy fix rather than when it saved it corrupted the file 😢 But in looking at the file size compared to my other saved ones it's only 96.0KB and most are at least 200-300mb in size. So it just may be that it didn't save correctly. Still not sure why Affinity Designer just lost all my styles randomly. It's not like the program hung and it had to be closed abruptly or anything. Didn't get any warnings or anything else either. Melissa Gradients.afstyles
  8. I went in to work on something in affinity designer and noticed all my styles are missing even my created ones. So I figure no biggie, I backed them up I'll just import them. Wrong. I try to import the style and it says it says "unable to import style category. Incompatible files." I created it with Affinity designer. It's an afstyles file. Some of the other ones that I downloaded for free else where are loading fine. But my backed up ones say they are not compatible. Why am I getting this and why did it suddenly lose all my files? Kinda panicking because I need these styles I've created. I backed them up so I wouldn't lose them, and now I think I have. 😨😭
  9. Thanks so much for the help. I knew there was a way to do it, but wasn't sure as I am still learning this software. Much appreciated! Melissa
  10. So I have a shape that someone else created as a png. I want a circular border which I can apply affects to and make it 3D. I created the border which I wanted. I made the original shape an asset so it is already made into curves. When I apply my affects it does not apply the affect to the border at all but around the border. I did make the border black so you could see the shape but it's originally white. Is there a specific process I have to follow to get the styles I want to apply to work with this image? I know that there is a rounded square in affinity designer but my rounded rectangle is the specific shape I need and it is not the same size as the one in affinity designer. Any help would be appreciated. The first image is what I am working with. Second is what it does instead of applying the effect to the shape. Thanks! Mel
  11. The first file is what I did with the brush and the gems that I want around half of the rounded square. I don't want them so close together and more spaced out. But not sure if I can space them out. Also they look a little on the grey side compared to the original image. The first image is the gem that I created, and I want it to repeat around half of the rounded square. What I did is the second image. And it just looks not as colorful. Not sure if it's because they are so small. Not sure if there is a way to make them a little more spaced out. I ideally want to use the original image to make the effect as I think it would look better. Mel
  12. I am new to affinity designer. I know how to repeat a shape around a circle, but am unfamiliar with how to repeat an image or shape around a non symmetrical shape such as a rounded square. I tried making the image a brush and have it repeat the image around the shape I need but the image doesn't look right when I do it that way. Is there another way to repeat a shape or image around a rounded square. Trying to do it by hand and have all the images be equal distance apart and uniform is not working. So just wondering if there was a way to repeat the image I am using around the rounded rectangle? Thanks so much! Mel
