ARDEdesign Posted May 5, 2022 Posted May 5, 2022 Hi All of a sudden the Publisher file I was working on is corrupt. Please help..! BR René Quote
GarryP Posted May 5, 2022 Posted May 5, 2022 If you can show us the error message(s) you see on-screen then that usually helps with problem diagnosis. Have a look at the file size of the document on the disk. If it is zero bytes then there’s probably nothing that can be done with it except for restoring from the latest backup. If it is zero bytes and you have not taken any backups then it’s probably lost forever, unfortunately. If the file size is not zero bytes then it might be recoverable – up to a point, possibly – but you would need to share it so that someone can look at it. If you can’t share it publicly in the forums, for whatever reason, then a moderator may give you a link to somewhere you can privately upload it to for them to have a look at. Quote
ARDEdesign Posted May 5, 2022 Author Posted May 5, 2022 Hi Gary, hope it is possible to restore the file. Anything else you need..? BR René Quote
ARDEdesign Posted May 5, 2022 Author Posted May 5, 2022 Tried to open in both Publisher and Designer Quote
GarryP Posted May 5, 2022 Posted May 5, 2022 Thanks for sharing the document and the error messages. The document seems to be a reasonable size but that isn’t always an indicator of whether it’s recoverable. I can’t recover things myself but I’m sure someone else can give it a good try. In the meantime, have you tried to place the document within another document, or insert the pages of the corrupt document into another document? I’ve heard that that sometimes works. Quote

ARDEdesign Posted May 5, 2022 Author Posted May 5, 2022 Seems like importing the pages to a new files makes it possible to save the contents... But it really sucks that Publisher creates that kind of problems. Thanks a lot for your support. BR René Quote

If you do not want to have problems with file corruption, I would recommend working on a local disk, and only perform backup/sharing to the cloud.
