Hi there,

I use DXO PureRAW (Version 2) to develop my RAW-Files (DNG-Files, made with a Pentax-DSLR). PureRAW sharpens and denoises the pictures and saves them again in the .dng-format, pretty neat. Usually, all goes well - except when a picture contains overexposed (pure white) spots: When I open this PureRAW-DNG-files in Affinity's RAW-Editor, all the overexposed parts have a pink cast. Don't get me wrong: I don't expect Affinity to magically save this overexposed parts - I just want it to leave them alone.

Anyone else with this problem? Thanks a lot for your help!

Hold your horses, I just found a workaround: I opened the Develop Assistant and changed the RAW Engine from "Serif Labs" to "Apple" - after that, the whites stayed white. Well, I never understood the difference between the two RAW-Engines anyway, must be a feature for the Wizs...

Hi @MarcusP,

Welcome to the Affinity Forums :)

I've seen similar issues previously when images have pink tones in, which are displayed as overexposed/saturated purple tones - however I've not seen this happen before for seemingly white/overexposed pixels.

I'm very glad to hear that using the Apple RAW engine resolves this issue for you, which confirms this issue is with the Serif LABS engine. In order for our team to replicate and hopefully repair this bug, I'd like to request a copy of your RAW file shown above.

Can you please upload this to the below link for me:

Once uploaded, please reply here to let me know. Many thanks in advance!

Hello,

I have the same issue and there are several threads on this topic. Unfortunately i have a windows  computer and therefore the option to use "Apple" Raw Engine does not exist for me.

Are there any plans to get this fixed and by when? I assume it is an issue in Affinity Photo from what i have read in the other threads?

In case you still need files showing this effect, let me know and i can upload some.

Thanks and best regards, Christof

Hi @Christof,

Thanks for your report - I can confirm this issue is still logged with our developers to be fixed, and although we appreciate the offer we don't currently require further sample images that display this bug :)

I will be sure to 'bump' this issue with your post now, my sincerest apologies for any inconveniences caused in the meantime.

@Dan C, could you check or confirm whether the new thread below (Questions Forum) about sky highlights requiring the Apple RAW engine – while the Serif LABS engine removes colour (cyan, blue) but shows neutral gray instead, is related to the pinky sky issue of this thread?

Hello, thank you for the conformation that you are going to fix the problem. Any idea until when this will happen? In most cases i can work around this issue with an HSL adjustment but unfortunately not in all. Therefore, i am very much interested in this fix.

Thank you, Christof

Apologies for the delay, I've replied to this thread :)

Unfortunately I'm unable to provide a timescale for this issue to be resolved, however I'll be sure to pass your comments through to our developers to hopefully speed this process up, where possible.

I hope this helps!
