Cannot "expand stroke"

I drew something using the vector brush tool.  I used the stabilizer to draw with a 10 pt stroke.  I now want "expand stroke" and it won't.  I can click the button but when I check it, it hasn't expanded.  Help? TIA

Most “vector” brushes are just bitmap images laid down on a vector path, so there’s no vector outline available for expansion.

Interesting.  I use this method a lot and haven't had an issue before now.  Should I use pencil mode instead to accomplish this in the future?  Is there a way to fix what I have already created so I don't have to start all over?  I was able to expand stroke on 3 of them and as far as I know I didn't change any brush settings.

Brushes that can be expanded do not have a PNG texture file associated with it such and the Pens and Pencil brushes.

This is my brush.  I don't know how to change them.  So then I should be able to expand it but cannot?

Oh I got it!  I went to my stroke settings and some of them were set to "texture line style".  I changed them to "solid line style" and was able to expand stroke.  Thank you all!  Wouldn't have gotten there without your help!
