joe_l Posted March 11, 2022 Posted March 11, 2022 ... or better: Behaving wrong. In my case it is an opened PDF generated from APu having a text frame containing text with 80% black and text with HKS 7 and there is a rectangle with HKS 7. 1. Switch to the Designer Persona (or Edit in Designer - makes no difference) 2. Click the rectangle and use Select > Select Same > Fill Colour 3. Now elements are selected. Use the Colour panel to change the percentage of the tint Result A: Even the gray text is changed although no HKS 7. Apart from that: 4. Revert history to the beginning 5. Select the gray text with the text tool 6. Select > Select Same > Fill Colour Result B: Same as Result A. Conclusion: Colour replacement is not working on text frames having text with different fills. colour-replacement.mp4 Quote ---------- Windows 10 / 11, Complete Suite Retail and Beta
Paul Mc Posted March 11, 2022 Posted March 11, 2022 From my experiments this only works with the first character in the text frame. Quote
walt.farrell Posted March 11, 2022 Posted March 11, 2022 Select Same would select an object / layer. Thus any changes you make after selection would probably apply to the entire Frame Text layer. If you want to change the color of text, especially in text objects with mixed characteristics, it would be better to use Find & Replace. This would only work if the colour is known (inside the Swatches panel), but this is here not the case. And if Select Same is for an object, why it is not possible to select the gray? Probably, as @Paul Mc suggested, it uses the first character's color for the selection. 4 minutes ago, joe_l said: This would only work if the colour is known (inside the Swatches panel), but this is here not the case. Sorry; I don't understand what you mean with that. Colors you search for don't have to be in a swatch. Sorry myself. Not precise enough. Try to search for spot colours. And even when you add a global spot colour from the rectangle, Find and Replace does not find the text, which has a spot colour.
