How to add a transparent gradation to a PNG with transparent background?

Would the Transparency Tool in Designer do what you want?

To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. If any of "my" posts are wrong or appear to be total b*ll*cks they are the ones generated by the AI. If correct they were probably mine. I apologise for any mistakes made by my AI - I'm sure it will improve with time.

AFAIK You can't use the Transparency Tool on a pixel layer.

You can add a mask to the pixel layer, then use the Fill Tool on the mask (linier, black to white) to add the transparency.

(By the way - This should really be in one of the questions forums, rather than in "Share your Work". Hopefully a mod will move it!)

If you place the image in the document, it is an image layer and the transparency tool will work on that
