RPJ
There used to be an opacity slider in the colour panel. screen grab from v 1.9.0 It is now a noise slider. screen grab from v 1.10.4 I used to be able to use it to control the line OR the fill depending on whether I selected line or fill (this fill is lighter, but yellow was a poor choice to demonstrate this - sorry) Now it seems the only option is to use the Opacity slider in the Layers and Effects panel But these control both line and fill. How do I control line and fill separately now? Thanks... Quote Better Than Nothing - Just
GarryP
Click on the circle under the word Noise and it will change to the Opacity slider. Click on the circle under the word Opacity and it will change to the Noise slider.

IMHO If Serif want to save a very small amount of space in this way, it would be a good idea to have some indication that this is how it works! 😕 sfriedberg 1 Quote Acer XC-895 : Core i5-10400 Hexa-core 2.90 GHz : 32GB RAM : Intel UHD Graphics 630 : Windows 10 Home Affinity Publisher 2 : Affinity Photo 2 : Affinity Designer 2 : (latest release versions) on desktop and iPad
GarryP
Agreed. This has been confusing people since 2016, for example:https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/23468-15010-adding-noise-to-a-fill/https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/52181-noise-slider/https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/53377-bring-back-the-dedicated-noise-slider/ As far as I can remember, just off the top of my head, this is the only place where the software uses this ‘trick’ to save screen space. Doing this in the desktop apps but not in the iPad apps is a particularly odd decision, given the much more limited screen space available on an iPad. RPJ
Thanks all - must have clicked it accidentally to turn it to Noise - but Noise might be useful one day - so not a complete waste of time. I like Affinity Designer, but the initial enthusiasm seems to have flagged. I wish they would get on with incorporating the features that were in Serif Draw... Another first world problem 🙂 Quote Better Than Nothing - Just
