AP would not initially let me use the vast majority of Filters functions on a Snapshot-created document.  Here are the steps I used to demonstrate the "problem".

  1. I loaded a PNG file into AP.
  2. I immediately made a Snapshot of the image because I did not to do any modifications to the original.
  3. I then created a Document out of the Snapshot.
  4. Next, I selected the newly-created <Untitled> document and went to the Filters -->  Blur  menu item.  The Blur  drop-down menu had all of the selections grayed-out.  The same was true for almost all of the drop-down choices in the other Filters menu.
  5. When I selected the original document (the one used to create the Snapshot), ALL of the Filters options were available.
  6. I then went back to the Snapshot document and simply made one change in the document (in this case, I slightly changed the brightness).  After I did that, all of the Filters options were available.

Can anybody explain why it should take a minor change to the Snapshot document *before* the Filters functions are active?  That certainly strikes me as a bug.

When you create document from a snapshot, initially, there are no layers selected, most filters require a layer to be selected or else they will be grayed-out

To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. If any of "my" posts are wrong or appear to be total b*ll*cks they are the ones generated by the AI. If correct they were probably mine. I apologise for any mistakes made by my AI - I'm sure it will improve with time.

I think all of the regular (destructive) filters are greyed out if there is no layer selected. The live (non-destructive filters are not, I assume because they create filter layers that can be added to a document even if it initially has no other layers.
