pmc304053 Posted November 17, 2021 Posted November 17, 2021 I am experiencing a very recent problem with a horizontal bar or line appearing on images in Affinity Photo Editor. Occurs with scanned B&W negatives , scanned Kodachrome transparencies (not present on scanned image prior to editing) and also with direct digital capture images. Where I use tools, for example: Levels, Brightness & Contrast, Highlights & Shadows etc and hit Merge these random horizontal lines or bars appear on the image. There is no consistency to this occurrence and positioning of the lines is random - maybe 0 or 4, 12.... I use the Edit button and Undo the Merge and the line disappears. I have attached a cropped section of a scanned 4x5 negative and a crop from a digital capture image showing examples. Any help most appreciated. Quote
RichardMH Posted November 17, 2021 Posted November 17, 2021 Quite possibly a problem with OpenCL acceleration. Try turning it off in Edit->Preferences->Performance. Quote
pmc304053 Posted November 18, 2021 Author Posted November 18, 2021 RichardMH - thank you, I have turned off the Open Cl as you suggested, and it seems to have solved the problem! Thanks again Peter RichardMH and Dan C 2 Quote
Moire Posted November 18, 2021 Posted November 18, 2021 I've had exactly this issue as well, and turning off OpenCL appears to have cured it! So, is this an issue for the graphics driver? Quote

So, is this an issue for the graphics driver? It is a little more complex. It is, to my knowledge, the interaction of the different components and their tolerances.
