Fully vectorized PDF is rasterized on import

The attached PDF is rasterized when opened in Affinity Designer but displays fine in all other viewers/editors that I've tried. I imagine there is an unsupported vector property that AD is choking on. I was able to manually correct this and generate an equivalent PDF fully in AD from the same source file, so I'm not sure why the automated import fails.

Which PDF?

You have two, the (Square) one has a pixel mask whereas the affinity one is all vectors.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.4
Affinity Designer 2.4.1 | Affinity Photo 2.4.1 | Affinity Publisher 2.4.1 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

The first, (square aka not affinity). The pixel mask is the bug I am describing - I'm not finding any other PDF viewer/editor that doesn't render that file as fully vectorized; only AD rasterizes the mask (which exists to provide a color overlay for editability purposes). I'm guessing there's something about it that AD doesn't understand or yet support.

Hi @mqudsi,

Thanks for your report!

I can certainly see the issue you're referring to with this PDF file - we've had previous reports for 'Pattern fill' in PDF files and it appears as though Affinity is treating this PDF in a similar manner.

I'll be sure to log this directly with our developers now, linking the relevant report for Pattern Fills.

I hope this helps :)

Please note -

I am currently out of the office for a short while whilst recovering from surgery (nothing serious!), therefore will not be available on the Forums during this time.

Should you require a response from the team in a thread I have previously replied in - please Create a New Thread and our team will be sure to reply as soon as possible.

Many thanks!
