sample downloads

Ive just purchased affinity and the sample downloads do not download, they just pop up with a red cross ?

Welcome to the forum! :)

The red 'X' you see on the cloud suggests it is downloading.

After some time (depending on your network connection) this should disappear and you can open the sample file.

Yes connection speed is everything with these files!
In the attached image, you can see the download progress is actually being indicated by the outer circle of the thumbnail image changing colour.
With the larger files it can take some time for this to become obvious.
I would also note that these example files will "self delete" after a System shutdown/restart, so if you want to permanently keep the example files on your computer, once downloaded do a "Save As… " with them.
