I recently stepped up from my old macBook Pro to a new one. As the new computer runs BigSur I cannot access my stand-alone copy of InDesign. I cannot commit to a subscription as I am retired and do not use the programme enough to justify the monthly dues. Is there any way I can get the old .indd files into Affinity Publisher?

I am very impressed with the free trial of Affinity Publisher, and intend to buy it. I just hope I can rescue all my previous work.

Hello @Julia Cagwin and welcome to the forums.

Affinity Publisher only supports the import of .idml files.

There are online services, also free of charge, but these do not convert to idml format.

For Mac users there is a conversion programme that also converts to the Affinity Publisher format, but it is not free.

Paying for a single month subscription, combined with Peter Kahrel's free script for batch conversion from .indd to .idml, would be the least expensive means.
