pistolpants Posted August 6, 2021 Posted August 6, 2021 I'm not entirely sure what is happening. After an automatic App Store update to the new versions of Affinity, Designer seems to be the only one with crashing issues every time I try to start the app up. Photo and Publisher are fine. Already tried a delete/redownload of the apps, as well as a restart of my Mac. Mac Pro (late 2013) Big Sur (11.5.1) 3.7 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon E5 12 GB RAM AMD FirePro D300 2 GB Quote
Staff Sean P Posted August 6, 2021 Staff Posted August 6, 2021 Hi pistolpants, Could you attach the crash report that is appearing please when you click 'Report'? Also if you could go to the following location and Compress the 'Affinity Designer' folder please and then move the one out of the Containers Folder to your desktop and then try starting the application. ~/Library/Containers/ Does this allow the application to start? If so could you please attach the ZIP please, if that still doesn't work, then copy the folder back (overwriting any existing files). Its worth noting that this folder will contain any custom assets and brushes etc that you may have created so please do try to keep a backup before deleting anything first! Quote
plvermeulen Posted August 6, 2021 Posted August 6, 2021 I have exactly the same problem with Affinity Designer on my iMac. Photo & Publisher are working fine after the update to 10.1 As of now I can not use Designer anymore and this is a problem because I have to make some changes urgently. Regards, Peter Quote

plvermeulen Posted August 6, 2021 Posted August 6, 2021 I have delete the container and now Designer will startup but I have to login to my account to verify which now gives an error. See attachment Quote
Staff Pauls Posted August 6, 2021 Staff Posted August 6, 2021 Does it continue to do so after restarting the app ? Quote
plvermeulen Posted August 6, 2021 Posted August 6, 2021 The Designer version I am using is purchased in the Mac App Store so maybe I do not need to login to the Serif account at all. Designer is working fine now so I think the problem is solved by removing the Container. Thanks very much for the workaround! Quote
plvermeulen Posted August 6, 2021 Posted August 6, 2021 @PaulsAfter stop/start Designer I was able to login again and the error was gone. Pauls 1 Quote

That actually did the trick, thanks! I did have some presets, but not so much as to keep them, so I have no problem with replacing them. Quote
DM699 Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 I am also experiencing this error.........very annoying. Copying the container folder to my desktop seems to allow the application to launch, however I then get the error noted in the thread above when I attempt to sign in. Photo seems to launch with no problems. Look forward to the update resolving the issue. Thanks Quote
plvermeulen Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 @DM699Stopping the app and the restarting solved this for me, hopefully for you also. Quote

Oddly, Photo launches fine. Affinity Designer crash report.rtf Affinity Publisher crash report.rtf Quote
Staff Pauls Posted August 8, 2021 Staff Posted August 8, 2021 if you hold the control key down while launching the app do you get the Clear User Data dialog? If you do Select the 'Reset Acccount Data' option then select 'Clear' Quote
