I often use affinity simply to make an icon for an app or folder or shortcut or something like that. instead of just the big icon (which does not work in all cases) can we have access to saving the full icon set, which we can then copy and paste as needed? either as an option in the export menu or just saving the full icon set with the file as the default

If you're on a Mac and you want access to the .icns file, then (1) right-click on the Application itself, in the Applications folder; (2) choose "Show Package Contents"; (3) open the Contents folder, then open the Resources folder; (4) you'll find the .icns file inside that folder – it's named AppIcon.icns. Copy it and paste it onto the Desktop (or anywhere else, obviously); don't remove it from the Resources folder. The application icons, of various sizes, are all there.

Hi and welcome to the forums @othereyes

Sorry to say that none of the Affinity applications make icon files. I have a little application I bought years (and years and years) ago, Icon Slate. Check the app store for others.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6
Affinity Designer 2.5.7 | Affinity Photo 2.5.7 | Affinity Publisher 2.5.7 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.
