297Chrisc
Hi, My artistic text tool adds a background colour of white to any shape or path it's added to. (Image attached) Steps to recreate. 1) Draw out a rectangle for the background - set the fill colour to blue 2) Draw a circle inside this for the text path - set the colour to transparent (Line and fill) 3) Add text to the inner circle using the artistic text tool 4) Boom, circle turns white. Just me or a bug? Thanks, Chris
Komatös
Hello @297Chrisc welcome to the forums. I have carried out the steps as described. But with me the result is as expected. 297Chrisc
I just realised that it was only on one specific document! Opening a new document is now working properly, how weird! Must have been an option or a shortcut I accidentialy pushed! Sorry, my bad, and thank you! Chris
Staff Dan C Posted May 28, 2021 Staff Share Posted May 28, 2021 Hi @297Chrisc, Do you still have a copy of this Affinity document available? I am interested to investigate what may have caused this for you in one document, but not in a new doc! Many thanks in advance

GarryP
When editing that file in Publisher I can set the Text Frame fill to None and the colour goes away. Or you can press Revert To Defaults but you will need to reformat the text. No idea why the ‘frame-curve’ was given a white background in the first place though. peterhil
297Chrisc
I don't think af designer has the text frame fill colour options. Unless I missed something :) always highly possible
GarryP
No, Designer doesn’t have the Text Frame Panel. This sort of thing has come up before when a document has, apparently, never been near Publisher. I only mentioned it as a possible fix for anyone reading this thread.
peterhil
I had this same problem with a document I started from an SVG file file downloaded from Wikipedia. I started editing the document in Inkscape, by changing fill and stroke colours, trying out text wrapped in a path and text on a path, changed grid orientation settings and saved as SVG and continued editing in Affinity Designer. If I open the original SVG file straight into Designer, there is no problem and I could not reproduce the issue by opening the original file again through Inkscape. PS. I have not even used Publisher before fixing this. PPS. RTL language support would be great! As a developer, you basically just need to reverse the text when displaying and take into account some Unicode characters (0x200C, 0x200D etc...) that change the text direction inline, find a simple algorithm on python-bidi. I get that there are complexities as a developer, but could you please make this a priority?
