Fecks
What the post title says. I turned on Check Spelling while typing, and the language is set to english. For some reason it's flagged literally every word in my layout. What could be causing this?
Pšenda
Interestingly, some words are fine. Do you have the control and the same language selected for the whole text? (select all text, Ctrl + A, and choose language). Is it all the same style? walt.farrell
I think that Pšenda has a good point. We know from your Character panel that the text wherever the text cursor is is tagged as English, but where is the text cursor? You could put the cursor in one of those underlined words, and then look at the Character panel. Fecks
OK, I selected all and changed to English. That was the issue. Thanks for the tip, I had no idea the language was set for each text frame and not globally for the document.
walt.farrell
The default is set based on your UI language from the Preferences. Beyond that, the language is set based on whatever the Text Style you're using says the language should be (and if you use the default Text Styles established by Affinity they all inherit from Base, and Base inherits from the UI language. Fecks
I was thinking of it being more that the tool was set to english, rather than any part of my document. I'm working with a template somebody else made so I had no idea that things would be set to different languages; the document I started with was english.
