karlbu
I would like to have the ability to change the background tab colors for various menu items, so that I can find them more easily. I find myself constantly scanning to find the relevant tab.

So view only those studios/panels that you are really using. You can display the others only when they are needed (for example with a keyboard shortcut). karlbu
Thanks, but that suggestion does not address the issue.

It was just a advise/tip that you don't have to constantly scan the relevant tabs for a few more years before your wish is fulfilled (if at all). wonderings
Not an answer but if you are using the applications regularly and not changing your layout it really becomes muscle memory. I have no issues with Indesign and the panels I have all the time, I instinctively go towards them without needing to scan over everything. The same thing would happen for colour coding, you would remember that blue = whatever and you would just learn and remember. This really is no difference between the text labels and colour labels, both will have you learning and remembering where they are.
