Curve Object Frame is Misaligned

Recommended Posts

I have a group of curves whose outline border is misaligned with its general shape (rectangular). How do I re-align the outline to the curve so that the sides are also perpendicular and horizontal? I'm not sure if I have the terminology correct but the attached screen capture may help.

Also, the curve was created in a document at 300 dpi. If I copy and paste it in another document set at 400 dpi, what's the cleanest method to transform the curve to fit the new document and maintain the same width-height proportion?

  1. Select the curve
  2. Click on the Cycle Selection Box icon resetboundingbox_lightui.png.f3b3cddae95a75263195555ddf623eff.png
  3. Align Curve to rectangle

Perfect! Thanks, firstdefence.

No Probs, nice border design by the way.

Actually, after I align the selection box, then select another curve, and then return to the curve, the selection box is skewed again. How do I keep it aligned?

The border design is the exterior curves of a puzzle cut pattern.

I or one of the other forum members might need to take a look at the actual file to try and work out why the bounding box is angled, if it's ok with you could you upload it so I can try to work out whats going off within the file to make it.

Create a rectangle larger than your object, place it on top your object so it fully covers it then select both objects in the layers panel and hit the Intersect button. I made rectangle with no fill and no stroke.

You don’t actually need a rectangle or other additional curve. Select the existing curve and press ‘Add’ to add it to itself (or ‘Intersect’ to intersect it with itself, if you prefer).
