Are you sure you going to File>Export then selecting jpeg(jpg) or TIFF, and then pressing the EXPORT button at the bottom of the Export Dialog? If you choose Save or Save as, then yes, unless you're saving a jpg or tiff, and choose SAVE, you'll be presented with just the affinity photo proprietary working file format of afphoto. SteveKen
HI Ron - yes, File - Export, then jpeg (or TIFF) then Export (I've been using Affinity for many months, so familiar with process. It was fine in previous version. I've just reverted to my previous version 1.8.5 and its now working as it should. Let me know when the bug is fixed and I'll upgrade again! Thanks Edited February 4, 2021 by SteveKen
Ron P.
Ok, Looking closer at your screenshots, the top one shows something real odd. The WMF format looks to be selected along with the jpeg. Don't know how that would happen. I tried to get it to, and it wouldn't. I couldn't get the program to give me the Save As window, unless I specifically select it from the File menu. 1. How did you update? Install over or clean install? FWIW, I over installed this time. Most of the time I do a clean install for new retail versions. SteveKen
Hi Ron, it does look as though the WMF is selected on the screenshot, but no, it's jpeg export. I did an install over - might try a clean install. I've reverted back to 1.8.5v and all fine, so will try your suggestion of a clean install. SteveKen
Tried a clean install, but no difference. However, if using the Export Jpeg or TIFF, despite the Windows Explorer window only showing the type as 'Affinity', (as my screenshots show) it does save the exported file as a jpeg (or TIFF) - very confusing - this needs fixing in Windows version.. Thanks I think the only change here is that the text has changed from "TIFF Files" to "Affinity Files"? The actual export is unaffected, and the filename has the correct extension? Though I admit it is confusing, and might cause some users to think that we're going to save an "afphoto" instead of a "tiff".

The file is exported correctly, as a jpeg (or TIFF). Confusing!
Steve259
Hi all, I'm getting the same thing as SteveKen when export to JPEG with latest update. It does export OK as JPEG but the "save as type" drop down implies it will be an Affinity file. End result is OK but a bit of a panic when I first noticed it.
