HELP - Affinity has stopped letting me insert a picture into text

Really need some help & i know its something simple i am not doing or have turned off.

I cant seem to insert art into my text - I havent had any issues for over a year with this so im guessing i have turned something off?

I am not certain I understand what you're trying to accomplish when you say "inserting a picture into text", but if you mean you want to start with something like this:

and end with something like this:

then:

1. Size and move the image (Pixel) layer on the canvas so it covers the text.
2. In the Layers panel, grab the image's layer and drag it into the text layer, making sure your mouse cursor is to the right of the layer thumbnail. You should see a blue highlight like this:
   
    
3. When you're done the Layers panel will look like this:

Are you trying to insert  a picture into text as you would in Publisher? Perhaps you have been using that and you are expecting Photo to work the same. A far as I am aware, it does not.

So the example you showed me is how i would normally do this, for the past year i have been able to do this but now it wont go into the layer box, even when i hover it over

If you can make a screen recording we might see something.

Otherwise I can only suspect you have the cursor in the wrong place when you try to drop the image.

@Lagarto, I think that I misinterpreted @Steve Pegram's requirements. I though that he wanted to isert an image into a text frame like this (in Publisher):
