GarryP
Currently, as of 1.8.5, none of the Affinity applications have any kind of curve simplification functionality. This has been requested before – quite a few times by different people – so the developers are aware of the requirement but Serif don’t often give out many details of future plans, for various reasons. I don’t think there are any general workarounds for this other than exporting the layer as an SVG, manipulating the SVG in another application, and then importing the layer back into your Affinity application. There may be some techniques that can be used on specific shapes in specific circumstances but they would probably be dependent on the shape you want to work on. Ray S.
Select the nodes you want to discard and press and hold cmd and alt and Backspace, this remove the nodes and maintain (as good as possible) the shape. With your example above this method works fine.
