ronnyb
Grids are awesome and I've been using them more recently. Here are some recent thoughts on improvements for Grids: 1. It would be great to be able to save and import/export grid presets, i.e., a 64 px grid with 64 px subdivisions for UI work 2. It would be great to assign Grids (and Guides) as individual layers or "special" layers on the Layers palette. So for example, I can have the above grid as well as an isometric grid, or a perspective grid and have both turned on at the same time or on an either/or basis using the simple Layer palette... 3. Changing a Grid (or Guide) layer's style thru the Layers palette would enable the user to change the grid color and opacity through an already defined app mechanism. Thanks for your consideration. Can't wait to get the Affinity Suite running on an iPad Pro !!! ronnyb
Awesome to hear, Ben!Btw, have you seen this tool before? It would be nice to have a "natural" set of constraints, grids and guides based on this this. It would be cool to be able to integrate this sensibility across the app, so even when picking colors, setting up type ratios (size to leading) and perhaps even in some of the shape tools... anon1 1 Quote 2021 16” Macbook Pro w/ M1 Max 10c cpu /24c gpu, 32 GB RAM, 1TB SSD, Sonoma 14.4.1 2018 11" iPad Pro w/ A12X cpu/gpu, 256 GB, iPadOS
svicalifornia
+1 for grid presets that could be transferred to other documents.
Staff Ben Posted October 18, 2016 Staff Share Posted October 18, 2016 You know phi is already available to use in expressions? Try putting "h * phi" in the width entry on the Transform panel. It'll work in any other entry field, so potentially already useful with Shapes, etc. ronnyb 1 Quote SerifLabs team - Affinity Developer Software engineer - Photographer - Guitarist - Philosopher iMac 27" Retina 5K (Late 2015), 4.0GHz i7, AMD Radeon R9 M395 MacBook (Early 2015), 1.3GHz Core M, Intel HD 5300 iPad Pro 10.5", 256GB
Staff Ben Posted October 18, 2016 Staff Share Posted October 18, 2016 ...and when I get around to automatic guide creation - I'll look at Phi, and sequences. ronnyb 1 Quote SerifLabs team - Affinity Developer Software engineer - Photographer - Guitarist - Philosopher iMac 27" Retina 5K (Late 2015), 4.0GHz i7, AMD Radeon R9 M395 MacBook (Early 2015), 1.3GHz Core M, Intel HD 5300 iPad Pro 10.5", 256GB
