Hey all

A quick question ... is there an easy way on Affinity Photo to select some text (or even type from scratch) and quickly change the colours so that each letter is a different colour?

This Example of the kind of effect I am talking about was done the slooooow way, by simply highlighting each letter and changing its colour manually :)

Any help much appreciated!!

One simple method would be to use a Gradient Fill on the text, see attached image and document.
It’s not perfect by any means and may need some tweaking (especially if you change the text) but it might be good enough for basic uses.
There may be much better methods.

Note: In my example I made a mistake with the gradient at the lower-right of the "X". This sort of thing needs to be checked properly in a real document.

Another method is to build your own reusable rainbow styles (bitmap fills) for quick turnarounds ...

... you can adjust the applied style fillings then adjust_rainbow.jpg.d6e01d9ff6d2b4a4d36d587451ef3bc3.jpg to your likings (scale resize, rotate etc.) with the gradient fill tool ...

The example rainbow styles file:

☛ Affinity Designer 1.10.8 ◆ Affinity Photo 1.10.8 ◆ Affinity Publisher 1.10.8 ◆ OSX El Capitan
☛ Affinity V2.3 apps ◆ MacOS Sonoma 14.2 ◆ iPad OS 17.2
