Hi all,

I am having a little trouble creating a patterned stroke.

I have created a brush with the pattern I want to have.

When I create a stroke (using straight lines), the pattern gets warped a bit (the rectangles become parallelograms, which I don't want). The dashed effect as seen here (on the National Rail lines) is what I am looking for.

When I use the vector brush function, this does get the result I want but unfortunately you can't draw straight lines with it!

Is there anyway to get the desired effect (rectangles, not parallelograms) using the stroke function?

Thanks for all your help.

I don't use vector brushes very often, so I'd never noticed that you can't draw a straight line, like you can with a pixel brush. That really is daft! 😲

I wouldn't use a brush for that style of line. AD now supports multiple strokes and fills on an object, so you can use a dashed white stroke on top of a solid coloured stroke as in this document: dashed.afdesign
