Affinity Photo and Designer on Chrome OS

Recommended Posts

[title]

I think it would be so great to have that kind of app on the ChromeBook Playstore (or the default Playstore) for two reasons :

the first reason being we all love Affinity and being able to use it everywhere with our ChromeBook would be a blast

secondly, I think it would have a huge impact on the "battle" between iPad and Android or Chrome OS based computer/tablet, the only reasons artists are buying iPad is because they have creatives app that simply does not exist on Android/Chrome OS, Affinity could change the game and make the competition way more intersting !

I am dreaming of that (for real)

The only reason why Serif ported their Affinity suite to Windows is the huge - huge! - business case. Millions of potential customers and the market will be there for decades. Stable and profitable. Every investment in development and support will be returned several times. Failure in other markets is incredibly expensive - and the prospect of success is minimal. That goes for all minority operating systems.

This is the only time I will comment this topic because it is - although I too think it would be nice to see many software titles available for more platforms - a waste of time and life. Because it just wont happen.

  • "The user interface is supposed to work for me - I am not supposed to work for the user interface."
  • Computer-, operating system- and software agnostic; I am a result oriented professional. Look for a fanboy somewhere else.
  • “When a wise man points at the moon the imbecile examines the finger.” ― Confucius
  • Not an Affinity user og forum user anymore. The software continued to disappoint and not deliver.

  • 1 year later...

I have been a loyal user of Serif and then Affinity for many years and found it all wonderful.  However, I require portability.  I can use all the products on my PC but my portability is with Chromebook.  It would help me a great deal to have Affinity on Chromebook working through the cloud.  I don't think it is helpful for Affinity to basically say "whistle to the wind" because it isn't going to happen.

Your best bets for online Chromebook alternatives to the Affinity range of products include Figma, Canva, Gravit, Vectr and Photopea (picture below).
