Hello,

In the attached file, I have added colours to the different index styles.

  1. You can see on page 5 that the character index creates 2 spaces between the name and the page list. How can I change this and put the sequence "pp." instead, for example?
  2. We can also see that between each page, the type of space used is incorrect. How can this be changed?

Thank you for your explanations.

Mais je vous le demande, peut-on imaginer une police sans sérifs ?

Index panel - Options - Separator:

(It appears that an ordinary space character, as typed by the spacebar, at the beginning of the Separator is ignored - you may need to insert an En Space or Em Space from the pulldown. Subsequent spaces, eg between ":" and "pp" in the screen shot, seem ok.)

Not sure. If it's anywhere, I suspect it's in Text Styles - I shall keep looking. What is "correct" if you don't want to use an En Space?

Cheers,

The more I think about this, the more I reckon that the space characters <ENSP><ZWSP>  before all but the first page number, and the commas after all but the final page number, are inserted programatically during the creation of the index, and cannot be changed at user level. (If anyone knows better, then let us know!)

However, it is possible to Find and Replace after creating the index, by copying the space characters, pasting into the F&R dialog and replacing with any character sequence that you prefer.
