Multiple Layer Effects?

Is there a way to add multiple layer effects in Photo?  (Besides simply duplicating the layer)

Add an effect to a layer

Group the Layer (by itself)

Apply the 2nd effect to the group, not the layer

Group the group

Apply the 3rd effect to that second group

etc

etc

etc

Perhaps I don't understand the question, but the Layer Effects dialog allows you to apply as many of the effects as you want to the selected layer. Just click an effect (to select it), click the checkbox, and adjust the effect's settings. Then select another effect, and repeat.

What if you wanted multiple outlines or shadows (different directions) on an image/object?

I do already know you can add multiple different effects...  I was wondering whether or not you could add multiple of the same layer effects...
