CMYK: Create Palette from Document

sb101

Recommended Posts

if I create an object

and set manually C+M+Y = 100 with K=0

and then use

"Create Palette from Document"

it

gets eg. C69 M65 Y60 K54 or eg. 70 57 69 64 (if the document was created as cmyk/euroscale coated v2)

in the palette?

I'd expect it gets 100/100/100/0 as the object was set to 100/100/100/0 before ...

"Create Palette from Document" does not do what you reasonably expected it to do.

The swatches in the created palette are derived by sampling a raster composite of the document. Furthermore, these samples are converted to LAB colour definitions that are stored in the swatches.

When the swatch editor for a LAB swatch is in CMYK mode, the controls show a conversion of the LAB definition to CMYK. (Adjusting a control will result in a CMYK definition being stored in the swatch.)

CMYK to LAB to CMYK will rarely result in the original CMYK for mathematical reasons.

thx, I was afraid of something like this.

often one uses different colors/variations, do test prints/proofs etc.
and if everything is fine one could add all the final colors with one click - would be perfect.

I could even imagine a setting,  where only the objects ON the page/visual area are added
(not "demo"-ones on the "outside" workspace).

color space translation makes here no sense, as one needs the correct cmyk values as defined alredy for the objects.

removing colors. selecting more than one color would be nice. I even would say one could use "any trash icon" on the screen to delete them ...

so deleting a bunch of swatches could really get fast (without so many clicks ....)
