Ctrl+Z not working? And is now a space bar?

Recommended Posts

Ctrl+Z stopped working shortly before 1.8.4

Recommendation to hold control and restart until popup, and then choose I think it was clear, worked but only for a short time.

Not sure steps before it stops, as I don't have time to mess with.  I don't know anything about file size, but I thought maybe my file was to large at 13,787 KB?.  I would guess this is small, but I don't know.

Today after downloading 1.8.4, now ctrl+Z functions as a space bar, along with ctrl+shift+Z🙃

Everything works fine outside of Affinity.

I hope this can be fixed as ctrl+Z is a must have.

I've just tried this myself (and have been using this shortcut on a daily basis throughout 1.8.4 beta cycle) and have not encountered this.

If you're still encountering this could you get a screen recording showing the behaviour (ideally with something that shows key input - I've found NirSoft's KeyboardStateView to be helpful). Are you using any other software that might interact with shortcuts/macros etc that could be interfering?

First, thank you guys for your help.  Special thanks to Sean for recommending KeyboardStateView.

Yesterday It happened twice, but it takes awhile before it happens and by then, I'm immersed in my work and I just couldn't pinpoint what exactly the cause was.  Even when trying to pay close attention, I just couldn't replicate it.

Today I couldn't get it to work, so I took a break and when I came back, ctrl+z wouldn't work?!.

I have an outside program that pops up every 10 mins. I have hidden it at the very bottom of my screen, and is why I probably never noticed it before.

KeyboardStateView Shows the popup triggering Alt key 18, and Right Menu key 165, and not every time but most of the time renders ctrl+Z inoperable.

I pressed Alt on the right side and the Right Menu Key and
voila, I have ctrl+z again.

Oddly enough, I'm currently working on a popup in in Affinity🙂.

Thanks again for your quick responses and help.

Thanks for that - what is the program that is triggering the pop up? We've made a change to the Brush resize shortcut to use Ctrl+Alt and my guess is this is getting stuck in this mode after focus is taken away (by the pop up) and not allowing any other shortcut usage.

It is also likely to only happen if you have a raster based brush tool selected at the time of the pop up (possibly also the Vector Brush Tool).

Hey no problem Sean, the program is https://prepros.io .  I didn't mess with it much, but Ctrl+Alt seems to work fine with a raster or vector brush.  I did notice I lost Ctrl+G, but it also comes right back with the right side Alt+Menu.

Thanks for that! I've actually reproduced it using that (though the unregistered version was forcing its way to the front) but did find my shortcut had stopped working prior to that. Pressing AltGr on my keyboard did resolve the issue and brought the shortcuts back!

Oh wow, very cool.

You really went above and beyond my expectations Sean.

Thank you.  Hopefully this helps someone else.
