suew Posted May 10, 2020 Posted May 10, 2020 I am unable to get a clean transparent image. As you can see by attached image, there is a darker transparency surrounding image. It is definitely not clear. What am I doing wrong? The background was white and I used the remove white paper filter then exported. When I tried to export as a gif instead of png, it was not a good image, but dark transparency was gone. Quote
Wosven Posted May 10, 2020 Posted May 10, 2020 There's colour in your background. Try using a Curves or a Levels adjustement layer to get it tranparent, or osing the selection tools or options. Quote
suew Posted May 10, 2020 Author Posted May 10, 2020 (edited) That is not the background, that is the transparency pasted on a white background. If you click on the image, you will see. Edited May 10, 2020 by suew Quote
Wosven Posted May 11, 2020 Posted May 11, 2020 Hu, it's a JPG, why didn't you post a PNG? In your export options, the Matte should be void (white slashed by a red line),as when there's no colour in the Colour panel). Paul Mudditt 1 Quote
suew Posted May 11, 2020 Author Posted May 11, 2020 I know it’s a jpg to show how the transparency is filled with color. I will attach the png now if that helps. Quote
suew Posted May 11, 2020 Author Posted May 11, 2020 You can see the image is transparent but it is surrounded by a box. When I used Photoshop Touch (no longer available) or Paintshop Pro years ago, I have never encountered this problem. Quote

Here you go, use “selection from layer, duplicate selection removes the strange background. Nina D Posted May 14, 2020 Posted May 14, 2020 Hello, I think I have a similar problem. I try to export an image with a transparent background. The affinity file looks perfect. But it always has a white or even a grey background after the export. I tried to export a PNG, GIF and TIF, it does not work. Can anybody help me? thanks & cheers, Nina Quote
suew Posted May 14, 2020 Author Posted May 14, 2020 Follow the same directions Paul gave me and then export. Your png should work. I am not sure why the gif and tif do not work though. I never had the coloration box from transparent images in other programs but Paul’s direction is a good workaround for images with layers. Quote
