Copy & Paste problems

Hi, I'm totally new to Affinity, and really just learning. I'm having problems with copy and pasting. I've used the selection tool to select my object then put a mask on transparent. I have then copied and pasted onto a new document, it does paste but it pastes down onto the bottom righthand side most of the object is off the page and I'm unable to move it anywhere. This also happens if I try to export it as a PNG and open the picture in a new document. What am I doing wrong?

Affinity is the name Serif chose for a suite of programs (apps); there is Affinity Photo, Affinity Designer and Affinity Publisher.  We are asking which of the three are you suing when you encounter the problem in this thread?

Hmm, are the document sizes of both documents much different in size, meaning is the first document you copy from possibly much bigger in size/dimensions than the one you paste into? - Can you select the layer of the pasted object and do the cursor keys (Shift-Left or Shift-Up cursor etc.) perform some movement of the object at all then in the second document?

Hi, I'm trying to put the object on a blank page. I just go into new, and select one of the sizes (I'm not sure if that's where I'm going wrong) once the new page is showing I then paste or open a png object I created, but nothing shows when I click on it, no handles or anything. What I'm actually trying to do is select/cut around 3  dogs on 3 different photos and arrange them on a blank white background into a nice composition. I paint pet portraits and I thought this would be an easy solution to doing quick compositions lol.

Well I assume you already tried to use the "Move tool (black arrow)" when trying to select the pasted object. How do you open a PNG object, do you use the "File -> Place ..." menu command or do you drag'n'drop into the new created document?

It's possible that you somehow managed to paste or place as an "embedded document" into the new created document (?), in such cases you often would first have to double click on the layer of your pasted/placed inside object, before you can alter or modify that then. - Hopefully the layers panel shows some layer for your pasted/opened object, so you can detect and know that something has been inserted. - However, it's also possible that your Affinity Photo Windows installment got somehow corrupted or misbehaving, in which case you would have to reset the Affinity Photo to it's initial defaults or reinstall the software.
