Xavvi
Hello, I'm a new convert to Affinity software. The software looks great. However, when I try to open one of my psd files in Designer it crashes immediately, doesn't even struggle to load the file or hang. The whole application just immediately closes. The same happens whether I drag the file into the app, or ty and open it through the menu bar. It can open some PSD files just not this one. But it opens fine in Photoshop so it doesn't appear to be corrupted from what I can see. Any tips on how I might get round this? I do have access to the file on Photoshop in case there's any settings I need to change on there.
pruus
Could you upload the file, so we can try it also? To find what’s going on and why.
Xavvi
Hi Pruus, Sure. I couldn't get it to upload via the comment form uploader so here is a link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/uebcw9bnczuazpk/your-airport-mockup-1a.psd?dl=
pruus
There is a sure a problem with the file. Tried to open it in AD and in publisher. Both shut down. This is a problem where Affinity knowledge is needed. Pitty.
nik78
Saved it as a Tiff in Photoshop and I turned off font layers. Start up Photo and then click open and find the file. Should work. pruus
Staff Sean P Posted April 14, 2020 Staff Share Posted April 14, 2020 Hi Xavvi, Thanks for letting us know. I'll get this passed onto development. I did find that resaving in CC with Maximize Compatibility enabled did allow it to then open correctly!
Xavvi
Thanks for the replies everyone. The file was generated with an ancient CS6 version of Photoshop so I'm guessing that's part of the problem. I managed to get it working in the end. I turned off font laters as suggested by @nik78 and saved it as usual. It opened perfectly in Affinity Photo and I could just turn the font layers back on Edited April 15, 2020 by Xavvi
