How to apply a grad ND effect in Photo

Recommended Posts

I bought affinity photo due to Adobe CC licensing issues (being locked out)

The tool set here is deep but not very intuitive for the beginner

Applying a graduated exposure is a very common effect.

I can see how to apply a universal exposure adjustment - but i have no idea how to create a mask to apply a range / gradient  to the exposure.

Apparently each adjustment has an integrated mask to make this adjustment - but i just cant work it out.

Can someone advise how it is done?

typically this is used on a horizon to bring back contrast to skies / clouds.

Hi

Complete newbie here.  I've also come from Lightroom, not really familiar with Photoshop, so the learning curve is quite steep.  The movie was great in explaining how to do this.  I have an associated question.  I did something similar using a gradient overlay in the develop persona, and added a couple of overlays.  I then moved to the photo persona, but when i went back to the develop persona only the master was visible.  Is this expected?

The video tutorials are excellent by the way.

Cheers
