Jim1964 Posted March 31, 2020 Posted March 31, 2020 Hi again, with the help of some of the folks in this forum -- thank you very much! -- my artwork and text is looking pretty good. Checked how the published ebook would look on an Amazon Kindle in the Kindle Previewer. The problem is that my pages only cover about a third of the Kindle screen, centered with large margins on all four sides. This is not the look I was going for. My intent is to have my artwork and embedded text take up the entire page. Is there anything I can do in Affinity Photo to resize the picture, or is it something that has to be done with the size of the original artwork? Thank you in advance for any and all comments. Fixx Posted April 1, 2020 Posted April 1, 2020 Check that you have right physical size applied. Document>Resize Document... untick Resample and enter right values with units set to millimetres. Quote
Jim1964 Posted April 1, 2020 Author Posted April 1, 2020 Thanks, Fixx. Will give it a try. Jim1964 Fixx 1 Quote
Jim1964 Posted April 3, 2020 Author Posted April 3, 2020 Hi, Tried inserting the mm sizes on the artwork, it barely blipped. Am using the size of a Kindle screen as I would like the art to take up the full available white space. Not sure if that's correct. However, checking a sample on the Kindle Previewer after I unticked the Resample and Resized using the new dimensions, nothing changed with regards to reducing the margin spaces. Note: the Van header at the top of the tools still had the same numbers (couldn't change them) except for the millimeters. Anything else that might affect it? Jim1964 Quote
walt.farrell Posted April 3, 2020 Posted April 3, 2020 What DPI are you exporting at? Some Kindle devices are very high DPI, and (in some HTML contexts (I'm not sure about PDF)) images can end up significantly smaller on Kindle than one might expect. I wonder if something similar is happening to you. Jim1964 Posted April 4, 2020 Author Posted April 4, 2020 Yes, Walt, the artwork shows up smaller on the Kindle. There is a large black margin on the right and large white margins on top and bottom. I've spent hours attempting to "enlarge" the artwork on the page using Fixx's and your suggestions. Nothing changed in the Kindle Preview boundaries. Also tried Resize Canvas. That only changed the view of the artwork inside the boundaries (unless I'm missing something). Perhaps it's something that my illustrator has to change on his end. Thanks for your help, guys.
