  1. Thanks, everyone! Fixx, I did have to go back to my original and rewrite the text. At least it worked. Thanks again! Jim1964
  2. Hi, That's exactly what I've been attempting to do. After selecting the text in a Text box, I use the move tool arrow and the box moves but the text does not.
  3. Hi, First of all, many thanks to Walt and Fixx (and others) who responded to my other questions. BTW, every time I tried to respond from my phone, I received the message: "This email already in use." So I wasn't able to get in to the forum. As mentioned earlier, I've had a formatting service format my Amazon book so the formatting is fine. However, my final PDF cover upload was rejected by Amazon KDP because the text was too close to the edges. They require at least 0.375" inches away from the edge for all text. This made since so I thought I could just open my cover in Affinity Photo and move the text. After numerous attempts to box the text and move it I ran into the issue of not being able to highlight the text in a text box, so it would not move. Every time I boxed the text and attempted to move it, the text stayed put. I could not get the text highlighted. All of the tools seem to be operating at another layer. Could not even erase the text. I'm sure there's a simple explanation and am hoping someone can give it to me. Thanks for any and all responses. Jim1964
  4. Hi, I've come to the conclusion that no matter how I size, or locate, the text on the artwork, it is just too cluttered. I think the best way is to reduce the artwork page width and use the half on the left for the text and keep the art (without text) on the right half of the page. Question is how to resize the art (to half of page width), and inserting some sort of white page on the left on which I can insert text. Note:: This is for a Kindle eBook, (Landscape spread). Any input at all is greatly appreciated. Best, Jim1964
  5. Hi, 1. Am sure I'm missing something basic in the Affinity Photo program. I'm attempting to create the Paperback version of my ebook (which was accepted, and is in the Amazon bookstore). However, the Paperback version is another story. Having watched numerous videos (mostly by folks who are using other programs than Affinity Photo), I'm having issues with getting my manuscript (picture book with text) uploaded successfully. The videos all say to use the exact document size (in this case the book will be 8.5" x 8.5"). Everyone says that the canvas must be sized larger than the document. My Kindle version has singular landscape pages. But, for the Paperback, I want to take each landscape page and break the landscape into a left page and right page. Now the spread becomes 17.3" wide by 8.75" high for bleed. Sounds easy enough. I go into Affinity Photo and Resize Document (for the 8.5" x 8.5") unlocked and saved. Recheck of the Resize Document shows the correct size. Now I go into Resize Canvas and insert 8.625" width x 8.75" height unlocked, save. When I go back to check the Resize Document, its dimensions have changed to match those of the Resize Canvas. Also, instead of middle-left matrix square that I checked, the left, upper corner of the 9 matrix squares is highlighted. Going to the "A" Artistic Text Tool Highlights the bottom right area of the screen with X, Y, Width and Height (which are grayed out!). 2. How can I seamlessly add a left page to a right page (side by side)? Any insight to the above is greatly appreciated. Thank you, Jim 1964
  6. Hi, Thank you for your fast response! After sending my question, I went way back to some earlier artwork, and found I could change the text. Will make sure I save in Affinity Photo first before I Export to a .pdf. Thanks again.] Jim
  7. Hi, I've tried numerous ways to correct text after I've resized document and canvas. Am experiencing the same problem of boxing the text to move/make larger. Although the frame box moves when I drag the bottom right mode, the text does not. Also am not able to highlight the text to enlarge it. When I originally inserted the text, the box and highlighting worked perfectly. Now when I go back to it after resizing the document and canvas, the text is unmovable. The artwork is in .pdf, do I have to save it in Affinity before it will respond? Jim
  8. Hi, Sizing artwork for a Kindle Kids book. I'm trying to come up with the correct document size using trial and error by using Document Sizing. When I use the Kindle Previewer in Kindle Kids, the margins look fine, i.e., there are none. When I download the manuscript to Amazon and preview it, there are white margins on the top and bottom. Going back to AFFINITY Photo, I get the width correct there are white space margins on the top and bottom on the Kindle Previewer. When I lengthen the height there are white space margins on the sides. Is there a specific frame size for the Kindle that I can plug into my AFFINITY program, or do I have keep doing a trial and error approach? Thank you for any help you can give me. Jim1964
  9. Yes, Walt, the artwork shows up smaller on the Kindle. There is a large black margin on the right and large white margins on top and bottom. I've spent hours attempting to "enlarge" the artwork on the page using Fixx's and your suggestions. Nothing changed in the Kindle Preview boundaries. Also tried Resize Canvas. That only changed the view of the artwork inside the boundaries (unless I'm missing something). Perhaps it's something that my illustrator has to change on his end. Thanks for your help, guys. 10. Hi, Tried inserting the mm sizes on the artwork, it barely blipped. Am using the size of a Kindle screen as I would like the art to take up the full available white space. Not sure if that's correct. However, checking a sample on the Kindle Previewer after I unticked the Resample and Resized using the new dimensions, nothing changed with regards to reducing the margin spaces. Note: the Van header at the top of the tools still had the same numbers (couldn't change them) except for the millimeters. Anything else that might affect it? Jim1964
